The Ayodhya Temple consecration on 22nd January 2024, is being planned as a spectacle choreographed around the Prime Minister.

And it is also a reminder to his bhakts joining the frenzy in a premature “pran pratistha” – which shouldn’t be done until the Temple is fully constructed according to Hindu beliefs. However, the political project of Mr Modi requires the publicity stunt be conducted before the Model Code of Conduct kicks in ahead of the elections this summer. Many leaders of Political Parties invited to attend the event have declined and called out the event as a political project or a RSS/BJP event.

12-Jan-24 Ashutosh in his article in NDTV writes the Congress Party’s decision to skip the 22nd January event shows it has returned to its moorings from the time of Nehru though in-between it had got confused and this has led to a lot of grief for the nation and for the party itself. Hinduism and Hindutva are what INC and BJP support respectively, and the distinction has to be clearly understood and communicated to its own cadres (and the electorate which he thinks is not likely to swing away due to this decision of INC).
